WWI STUDENTS WENT GA GA ON POETRY SESSION WITH ROCKSTAR IRSHAD KAMIL AT 5TH VEDA ON MARCH 3 AT CAMPUS…
“Lyrics are a great device to understand and express life. Come out of your comfort zone and expand your creativity because it is like Social Work,” said Irshad Kamil,
“I am not here to enlighten you on songs and lyrics but ensure that you as students of Cinema will respect the art of writing lyrics and the writer while making or acting in films.”
Irshad explained the repertoires of writing lyrics for movies and poetries to Whistling Woods International students in his poetic manner. He delved more into the subject and highlighted current Bollywood scenario by saying, “We are losing touch with our native language whether it is Hindi, Urdu or Punjabi and this influx of western influence in our linguistics is harming poetry and its various forms. As a writer try not to cater to consumerism rather explore the unknown areas and set a benchmark for your writing.”
Some talented students surprised Irshad Kamil with their own songs and poetries and also sang to the tune of his lyrics from a popular film. The interaction wasn’t subjected to just writing lyrics but also challenge him to invent his own lines with the flow of the given one. Irshad Kami here emphasized on the fact that only rhyming isn’t poetry.
